Kelowna Community Theatre is set to unveil two new exhibitions as part of the Art@KCT program presented by KPMG. Featuring the work of artists Anke Sabo and Angela Hansen, this newest edition of the Art@KCT program highlights the work of two Okanagan artists working in diverse mediums.

In the Rise exhibition space, Anke Sabo’s Cosmic Consciousness explores atmosphere and astronomy infused artwork inspired by the 2017 total solar eclipse. Her artwork lives somewhere between abstract and realism, and strives to portray a sense of invisible energy. By painting intuitively with the help of tarot cards, oracle cards and aura connection sprays, a sense of magic is infused into the artworks. The result is a dynamic and largely ethereal body of work that depicts the elements of air, earth, fire, water and the cosmos.

In the Cube exhibition space, Angela Hansen presents Waxing Whimsical, an installation of encaustic-based wall sculptures inspired by coral reefs and understory flora. Using handmade encaustic medium along with paper and natural twine mounted on wooden substrates including reclaimed wood, these pieces arranged closely together resemble a “living wall” reflective of the great diversity and beauty of these rich planetary biomes.
